Installing HylaFAX on CentOS 5
I have recently re installed one of our CentOS servers, and struggled a little trying to remember all the details when I installed it in the first place several years ago.
A brief description of Hylafax
HylaFAX is an enterprise-class system for sending and receiving facsimiles as well as for sending alpha-numeric pages.
The software is designed around a client-server architecture. Fax modems may reside on a single machine on a network and clients can submit an outbound job from any other machine on the network. Client software is designed to be lightweight and easy to port.
Here’s a quick guide for installing HylaFAX on a CentOS 5 server:
Linux Based Server for Home
With all the time I put into Linux for work purposes, I am thinking what it would be like to put the same amount of effort and reasoning into a server for the house. this would be a server that would go beyond the IPCop firewall that we have running there now.
- IPCop does a great job and is very reliable, but the project seems to have been in an infinite development loop for the last couple of years… but I found that ipfire is maintained and does more than ipcop ever did. The only thing I don’t like about these two is the blue network part. I wish we could do multiple green networks.
Typical Aussie Bloke
We have a Tea Towel called Typical Aussie Bloke which says:
Bloke: Aussie male — a SHE aussie is girl called a sheila or a chick. A job for you is called a grip. kids a called ankle biters.
big smoke: = big city
QUID: = many to all and actually respect to none. not a full quid refers to a lower IQ.
no hoper: = slang — see QUID.
bingle:= motor vehicle accident
windscreen: = the thing you look through in your car that keeps the wind out — now — I never understood how this works
beyond the black stump: = back of nowhere
Computer Tutoring ?
We are planning to offer personal computer tutoring at our shop in Somerset KY.
Please note that we are not a qualified teachers but we think we can offer you what you want so that you can get more benefit from your computer investment. This is based on our experience at our store.

Current business practices require computerized and sometimes automated systems for customer tracking, payment terms and record keeping.
I generally find that there is a larger first time cost for any new customer that we get a call for compared to customers that we have done work for before. This can be due to a number of reasons, but usually due to a lack of maintenance, like, windows updates, expired anti-virus software, or other reasons.
